World Malaria Day

Did you know that the 25th April is World Malaria Day? The day is designated by the World Health Organisation to raise awareness of the need to tackle malaria around the world.

Our charity partner, Transaid, is combatting severe malaria in rural Zambia through the innovative and community-led MAM at Scale programme, which uses bicycle ambulances to provide a vital link between rural communities and health facilities so that families can access medical care in emergency situations.

Emmanuel Kwenda one of MAM at Scale’s newest bicycle ambulance riders. Read his story to find out what motivated him to help his community access healthcare, and why he believes that “transport and healthcare should move together”: http://www.transaid.org/news/world-malaria-day-emmanuel-kwenda/
