Iceland Trials Low Carbon Measures for Distribution

 Iceland has reduced its operational carbon footprint by 74% since 2011 through various cost and energy-saving measures.

Iceland is on target to become carbon neutral by the end of 2042, eight years ahead of the UK government target of net zero greenhouse gas emissions by 2050.

Iceland’s carbon emission reduction measures include trialing electric and hybrid vehicles.

Iceland is working with its logistics supplier, Cold Chain Federation member XPO Logistics to test electric vehicles for inner-city deliveries in 2021. Iceland is also exploring increased insultation in reefer trailers, direct driven electric fridges and solar power for trailers fridges.
