This year World Refrigeration Day (26th June) has been extended into a two-week celebration of refrigeration, air conditioning and heat pumps. Now in its third year this annual global celebration of all things cooling is looking increasingly outwards with the theme this year Cooling Champions: Cool Careers for a Better World. IOR is proud to have been recognised as one of the World Refrigeration Day Ally organisations this year.

The IOR is, as always, front and centre in celebrating our industry and its contribution to society. We have three free online events planned and members are invited to take part in any or all of them! Please pass the information along to colleagues, end users and school contacts too.

How women are inspiring the next generation of engineers is on 23rd June and is organised by the IOR’s Women in RACHP Group. Also marking International Women in Engineering Day with the Women’s Engineering Society and introducing some outstanding female RACHP engineers.

Cool Careers in RACHP on 24th June provides an afternoon of talks, presentations and competitions hosted by IOR President Mike Creamer showing the range of people and IOR initiatives promoting careers in our industry. This will include the announcement of the winner of the IOR Lifetime Achievement award for a Service Engineer and Ted Perry Award for Outstanding Student Research.

Beyond Refrigeration – next steps to Net Zero working groups will be exploring how we can use Briefing Notes, Policy Papers and Social Media messaging to help move our industry together along the journey to NetZero by 2050. Join in these discussions on 1st July.

World Refrigeration Day will feature loads more events organised by UNEP, IIR, ASHRAE, EPEE and others. See their website for details of the full programme www.worldrefrigerationday.org or follow and share your own events and news on social media #wrefd21.

Let’s make 2021 World Refrigeration Celebrations one to remember!
