Versatility of Custom-Built Flower Trailers Help Grow FreshLinc’s Chilled Food Distribution Capacity
Ten Cold Chain Federation member Schmitz Cargobull reefers originally specified by another Cold Chain Federation member FreshLinc to transport air freight flowers have been redeployed to support peak demand for chilled food distribution.
The custom-built assets, co-designed by the manufacturer and FreshLinc, incorporate a Hydraroll Trailerloda rollerbed system – ideal for ensuring the quick and safe loading of air cargo containers containing fresh flowers from the Netherlands.
However, now demand for FreshLinc’s chilled food distribution services is incredibly high, the assets are also being used for food transport without the need for additional modification.
FreshLinc’s Fleet Engineer, Andy Marchant, says: “The rollerbed floors were originally specified with airfreight containers in mind, but they are completely versatile and these trailers are currently being used to support our food distribution efforts.
“As with all Schmitz Cargobull equipment, the trailers are robust and can be worked hard without issue. The flexibility is a real bonus and in the future they will be used for their original purpose to maximum effect.”
The new units join FreshLinc’s fleet of 1,000 trailers, 500 of which are supplied by Schmitz Cargobull.
