Sunswap goes pan-European following a major deal with Netherlands-based TIP Group
After a successful and busy year of UK trials and orders in 2023, Cold Chain Federation member Sunswap is excited to continue 2024 in the same vein by sharing news of a partnership with major European leasing company TIP Group.
As a leading equipment services provider operating across 18 countries, TIP recognises the importance of industry leadership in sustainability and is committed to helping their customers reach carbon neutrality by 2050. TIP expands its partnership with Sunswap by placing another minimum order of 20 Endurance Transport Refrigeration Units (TRUs) and commencing customer trials, inaugurating the use of sustainable refrigerated transport solutions at scale across Europe.
“We are thrilled that TIP has chosen Sunswap to help equip their trailers with our award-winning solar-powered refrigeration technology. Working with a forward-thinking organisation such as TIP signifies a huge step in Sunswap’s expansion overseas” commented Alastair Gough, Head of Business Development at Sunswap.
The commitment to incorporating Sunswap’s battery and solar-powered transport fridge – Endurance – demonstrates TIP’s confidence in this innovative technology to fulfil the delivery cycles for TIP’s broad portfolio of customers. Four years on from their conception, Sunswap begins full-scale production in March 2024, and the commercial team continues to fill build slots rapidly while beginning further trials in the UK and overseas.
Rogier Laan, Vice President Sales and Marketing at TIP, said: “Sunswap’s refrigeration system is unique and this partnership allows us to offer our customers another sustainable solution for their refrigerated trailer fleet management needs. We are excited to be at the forefront of the industry in implementing clean technology to reduce our customer’s carbon footprint.”
Sunswap CEO Michael Lowe adds: “We are delighted TIP has recognised Sunswap’s potential to transform refrigerated transport across Europe, marking a new phase of our expansion. I want to thank Rogier, Naut and Arjan for helping forge this partnership. It’s not possible to change the world alone, so with visionary companies like TIP, we are accelerating the European cold chain’s shift towards a zero-emission future.”
Partnerships like this one enable Sunswap to display Endurance’s versatility in catering to diverse fleets and varied infrastructure across international borders, as a viable alternative to diesel-powered systems by operational, financial and environmental measures.
As production ramps up in 2024, the Sunswap team is eager to equip more European trailers with award-winning battery and solar refrigeration.
