Samworth Brothers Businesses and Colleagues Coming Together to Support the Ukraine Relief Effort.

Cold Chain Federation member Samworth Brothers businesses and colleagues are coming together in many ways to support the Ukraine relief effort.

Samworth Brothers Community Director Adam King said: “Many of our colleagues, particularly those with links to Poland and other nearby countries, want to help the humanitarian effort. We are supporting local Polish groups and the Ukrainian Centre in Leicester and putting together welcome food boxes for Ukrainian refugees arriving in the Midlands, Cornwall and Manchester.”

The Samworth Foundation has also given £250,000 in emergency grants in response to the Ukraine crisis.

Samworth Brothers colleagues have been volunteering to help sort and collate donations at the Samworth Brothers Supply Chain Oak Meadow distribution site in Leicester.  The site is helping to consolidate loads and is using its warehouse equipment to pack donations onto pallets, making the vital supplies much easier for charities to transport.

Samworth Brothers is also facilitating travel to Poland for some donations via its distributor partners and funding a lorry to travel to an orphanage in Klodzku in Poland that is caring for 200 fostered children.

Paula Gagin, Samworth’s Community Champion, commented:

“It has been a pleasure for Samworth Brothers to help the local community. It is absolutely astounding how much has been donated in such a short time and we will be continuing to support the aid efforts”.
