5 Minutes with Cold Chain Federation Member Flexitricity Ltd

Flexitricity Ltd joined the Federation at the end of last year and help businesses earn revenue through occasionally altering their electricity generation and/or consumption profile, in response to National Grid’s requirements, an important subject within our industry. Here are further details of who to contact & why they joined the Federation.

QWho is the main person for members to contact?

The main contact for Flexitricity is Business Development Manager, Blair Eastwood.

Q. What do they do and contact details?

Flexitricity is Britain’s leading demand side response provider. We work with a wide range of businesses to monetise the flexibility in their electricity consumption patterns. Blair’s role is to reach out to businesses that can benefit from working with Flexitricity and guide them through the engagement process – starting with the initial call and revenue illustration.

If you have any questions about demand side response or if you’re not sure if your business can participate, pick up the phone and give Blair a call! He’s always happy to talk about what we do. Contact details: blair.eastwood@flexitricity.com Tel: 07930 282238

QWhy is it important to be a part of the Cold Chain Federation?

Businesses in this industry are ideally placed to make savings and earn revenue through demand side response and we have a long history of working with refrigeration assets. In fact, Norish Cold Storage (CCF Member) was one of our first customers and has stayed with us for over a decade.

Being part of Cold Chain Federation is important to us because it helps us to keep up to date with the latest industry news and changes enabling us to better serve our customers. It’s also a great way to network and provide energy industry updates to members.

We know that energy management is a key concern for members which is why we believe it’s hugely important to maintain this engagement between our industries. Cold Chain Federation offers this and an excellent route to do that.

Q. What are Flexitricity’s aspirations for the industry?

We’re looking forward to seeing wider adoption of DSR across the cold storage industry. There are now more revenue opportunities than ever available for energy users, which is exciting to see.

Energy should not be purely an overhead and a burden. Being flexible with your energy consumption (within the parameters to maintain the correct temperatures and the integrity of stored product) enables businesses to reduce costs, drive sustainable revenue all the while supporting National Grid as we move towards net zero.
