Keeping it Cool: Inside the Cold Chain Federation’s Expert Groups

The sun was shining on South Kirkby last week as the Cold Chain Federation’s Technical and Safety Expert Group convened at StoreLogs for their latest meeting. These gatherings are always a hotbed of discussion; this one was no exception!

The group tackled many critical topics, demonstrating the breadth and depth of expertise within the cold chain sector. No stone was left unturned, from the practicalities of cold store floor repairs and navigating complex recycling regulations to the crucial safety considerations surrounding ammonia refrigeration installations. The meeting also offered a glimpse into the future, with the CCF sharing its plans to conduct a census of workforce demographics within the cold chain, with special guest Kirsten Tisdale FCILT contributing to the critical discussion.

Attendees were also treated to a tour of the impressive South Kirkby site, including a sneak peek at the soon-to-be-commissioned brand new plant room. Expert tour guide Kerry Broadhead led the way, offering valuable insights into the facility’s operations and cutting-edge technology.

A big thank you to Kerry, Joanne Webster, and Paul Martin for their excellent hospitality and for being such perfect hosts.
